Families NSW Learning & Development Project

  Inclusive Service Support Project (ISSP)    

A pilot project developed by FWT+DP and funded by Families NSW to provide support for services to identify and implement strategies for inclusion of Aboriginal children, families and community in service delivery.  

 

The overall aim of the project is to increase the skills, knowledge, practice and commitment of participating services to engage with, and improve access for, Aboriginal families and communities in Metro West. 

 

The project will work one on one with participating services  providing flexible delivery of in service training, mentoring and capacity building initiatives (with Management, staff and volunteers) over 12 months.

Intended outcomes for participating services are: 

ü Increased understanding of the experience of Aboriginal families using mainstream services.

 

ü Develop and maintain genuine, respectful relationships with Aboriginal services and workers.

ü Recognition and valuing Aboriginal cultural expertise.

ü Identify and implement strategies for inclusion of Aboriginal children, families and community in service delivery.

ü Identify and implement specific strategies for joint initiatives that support inclusion of Aboriginal communities, families and children.
