Welcome to 2012
We have a very busy year ahead at FWT+DP.
Firstly I want to welcome Chris Ryan to our team. Chris comes with more than 10 years experience in the community sector and we look forward to her input and involvement at FWT+DP.
Chris, along with Sharmila Falzon, will join FNSW Project Workers Vicki Wilde and Jane Skelton to continue delivering Learning and Development workshops/forums and the Child Wellbeing Summits to be held in May.
Jackie Stewart our ACYFS Project Worker is committed to reviving the Koori Yarn Up sessions. If you are an Aboriginal Worker and would like to know more about Koori Yarn Up, please contact Jackie. Jackie will also be working on the Family/Domestic Violence project.
Dianne Colbert and Veronica Riddell are our Community Builders Project Workers. Dianne’s ‘Children and Mental Health’ project will finish in June, but not before 3 more workshops and a Mental Health Forum to be held on 30th May in Blacktown, PUT THIS DATE IN YOUR DIARY!!!
Veronica’s project is to work with Family Workers and the needs they have around training. FWT+DP along with FAMS (family support workers peak organisation) will deliver a FAMILY WORKERS STATE WIDE CONFERENCE on June 18/19th at Rooty Hill, another date for your diary.
Julianne Abood has a new project up running under the FNSW banner, the Inclusive Service Support Project (ISSP). Julianne will work with 4 mainstream services for a period of 12 months with the aim of increasing the skills, knowledge, practice and commitment of participating services to engage with, and improve access, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) families and communities. She will also deliver the ‘Let’s Get Connected Forums’. One of the initiatives from these forums is to support services to work on their ‘Reconciliation Action Plans’.
FWT+DP projects and project workers are very well supported by Nicole Chadszinow, who is now responsible for updating our website and assisting with the maintenance of the date base along with Heather Callaghan, our financial administrator, who ensures our accounts are always up to date.
I would like to encourage everyone who is registering for any events to Register AND Pay ONLINE.
As of the 1st July 2012 FWT+DP will ONLY accept online registrations.
Maria Losurdo, Manager Project Development, and I are very excited to have a team of committed staff who work very hard to stay in touch with the sector, bringing the learning and development needs to our planning days allowing us to then work through the, often, long list of needs. Contact details for all workers are on the ‘contact us’ page of this website.
I invite you to regularly check our training calendar, which is updated the first week of each month on the FWT+DP Website.
Regards,
Jackie Wilgress Executive Officer Family Worker Training + Development Programme Inc.
